Our Team
Jay Sehgal serves as executive vice president of Sehgal Foundation in the US and as trustee of S M Sehgal Foundation in India. He represents Sehgal Foundation on the board of Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and Environment and serves on the board of Hytech Seed India Pvt. Ltd. He has a degree in Business Administration/Management Information Systems with emphasis on Computer Science from the University of Iowa. Jay served as executive director of S M Sehgal Foundation in India during the seminal shaping and development of the organization.
Bernd (Ben) Sehgal is a trustee of S M Sehgal Foundation in India and board member of Sehgal Foundation in the US. He also serves on the board of Hytech Seed India Pvt. Ltd. and the William L. Brown Center at the Missouri Botanical Garden, St. Louis, Missouri. Ben is a graduate of the University of Iowa and has a PhD in chemistry from Northwestern University. He has assisted Sehgal Foundation with communications and outreach since 2006.
Devika Batra is a Partnerships and Fundraising consultant at Sehgal Foundation. She brings with her multi-sectoral development experience, across fundraising, partnership development, people management, training, and program designing. She began working at SMSF in India in 2009 where she steered grassroots research and implementation initiatives aimed at food security, water security, and community empowerment.
Jane E. Schukoske is an Advisory Board member of SMSF and the
academic liaison at Sehgal Foundation for students outside India interested in internships and universities interested in study abroad and research collaborations. Jane served as CEO of S M Sehgal Foundation in India from 2011–2016. Earlier she practiced law, taught at the University of Baltimore School of Law, and directed the US-India Educational Foundation in Delhi.
Marly Cornell is a Communications consultant, writer, and social justice advocate with a BFA from Moore College of Art in Philadelphia and an MA from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota. She works with the Communications teams for Sehgal Foundation in India and in the US. Her award-winning books include Seeds for Change: The Lives and Work of Suri and Edda Sehgal (2014), and Together We Empower: Rekindling Hope in Rural India (2016).
Sachin Brett Sehgal is a Digital Marketing consultant for the Sehgal Foundation, US, and the founder of Elevate Digital Marketing LLC in Des Moines, Iowa. He is also the author of From Start-Up to Scale-Up. How to Use Digital Marketing to Scale Your Business to The Next Level, and is in the process of publishing his second book Conquer Your Quarter Life.
